Cattle have played a hugely important role in Ireland's economy and culture since the earliest times.

Irish mythology makes frequent reference to the pivotal role of cattle farming in Celtic and pre Celtic society.

Today, some of Ireland's native breeds of cattle are among the most endangered in Europe with population numbers at low or critically low levels.

Genexcel Irl has assisted clients to apply modern breeding technology in the conservation of this valued component of Ireland's agricultural heritage, working with the Kerry, Dexter and Irish Moiled breeds.

It is vital that assisted reproductive technologies are available to aid the conservation and propagation of these minority breeds.
